lasting impressions weddings is an award-winning minnesota wedding planning and design company

This past summer we have had the pleasure of being at the new Venue in Minneapolis, The  Machine Shop a few different times and we love how the venue transforms for each couples vision and style. Jamie and Sam planned their wedding while leaving on the East Coast and traveling a lot for work… not only is that a lot to take on, but Jamie was the DIY queen. She not only bought all of her own linens, made all of her own stationery, her mom even sewed all 300 of the pink napkins so that they could be the perfect shade of pink!!!
I had a lot of fun getting to know Jamie, Sam and both of their families! They not only planned a wonderful wedding, but they also planned numerous days of lake activities to let their guests take advantage of the beautiful Minnesota Summer!!!

Let me first start off by saying that it has taken me an hour to try and narrow down photos for this blog post! Not only because Joe and Jen Photography make it really hard to pick favorites, but also because a LARGE Two Day Western and Hindu Fusion Wedding had a lot of wonderful moments and memories to sort through!

For Sarah and Brian’s fusion wedding we explored TONS of options… Should we have all of the events in one day? Should we have all of the events at the same venue? Should we split it up over a Saturday and Sunday or would it be best to utlize a Friday and Saturday? After hours and hours debating, planning and stategizing the timeline and flow of both days we landed on an East meets West style; We had a traditional western church ceremony on Saturday followed by a reception for guests that had flown across the country to celebrate with Sarah and Brian. On Sunday morning we headed up to  the Hindu Temple of Minnesota for the Hindu ceremony followed by a lunch and then a bright, fun and festive reception at Aria.

We wanted to utlize as many of the same vendors as possible on both days, however we wanted to give each day its own unique look and feel. For Saturday’s festivies Sarah wore a traditional (and beautiful) white gown and our decor was all very neutral, classic and understated. Sunday was the complete opposite with Sarah in a traditional Indian regalia surrounded by Bright, Bold, Colors that really kicked off the start of summer!!

As I am sure you can tell from the photos… Sarah and Brian’s smiles are infectious and both of these doctors have the deemener of a saint! Planning one wedding can easily push a couple over the edge, but trying to plan two  large and very different weddings at the same time takes a tremendous amount of patience and stamina.

Sarah and Brian- You are the best! If you ever decide to plan another non-stop wedding weekend… I will be there right with you!!!!

My favorite weddings are Tent Weddings!

I am not sure if it is the challenge of creating a venue from the ground up or the idea of having a blank design canvas. But I LOVE the challenge and the uniqueness tents offer! Judging by the number of emails and calls I get inquiring about tent wedding… I don’t think I am alone in my love for these intimate and personal weddings.

However,  most of us do not have properties to accommodate these big gatherings. Brenna and Justin did not have that problem!! The first time I drove out to Brenna’s parents home in Orono my heart did a happy dance when I saw the large amounts of FLAT grassy land I knew that it was made for a wedding!

The moment I met with Brenna’s lovely mom I knew that I had found a wedding that would inspire me and challenge me at the same time. We dove right into the planning and when Brenna and Justin would come home from New York we would have marathon planning sessions that were always fun and so productive! The first design element we incorporated into the wedding was a sketch of Brenna’s childhood home where the wedding was taking place. This became an intricate part of our wedding design placing it on the save the dates, menu cards and other day of stationery. In addition, the colors of the wedding were inspired by the house as well. We wanted everything to look like it flowed together effortlessly.

The week of the wedding the forecast was terrible. At one point it showed 90% chance of rain the day of the wedding and naturally we started to implement the backup plans we had planned. However, as the Minnesota weather likes to do… The forecast drastically shifted over the next 24 hours. Not only did it not rain a drop, but the temperatures rose to over 90 degrees. Thankfully we had an amazing group of vendors that worked through the sweat and the sun to make this day flawless!

Brenna and Justin. Thank you for allowing me to be apart of your big day and for inviting me into your home to share such special memories!!

Cheers!

Megan and Drew ….Where do I start, I absolutely loved helping them plan their wedding!!!! First of all, look at their smiles that go EAR to EAR and you can tell that their wedding day was just one step in their adventure together!

They began planning last fall, a few moments after they were engaged! Luckily for me, I had already met Megan when I planned her cousin’s wedding years earlier and I was ecstatic to get the call from Megan to see if I was available!   Lauren and Megan were some of the most organized and stylish brides I have ever worked with, and the similarities I saw in each of them made the process so much fun!

Not only did I love that Megan was SO organized . But I also adored the way that her and Drew looked at each other and worked with each other in the planning of the wedding. They really wanted a wedding-focused around their love and the love of all of their friends and family! Additionally, they had both been in a lot of weddings, so when we were trying to find a venue for their reception we quickly narrowed down the options. Luckily for us, Loring Social had just started to book weddings for the summer and fall of 2017 and we knew immediately it would be a great fit for the wedding they were envisioning.

Loring Social’s decor is very clean and modern, so we decided to use long tables to maximize our guest count and use pops of bright colors to warm up the space. Geometric shapes played a big part of the stationery design and we wanted to include that look and feel in the centerpieces as well. The look worked great with the modern space.  There were also numerous personal touches to the wedding. Megan and her bridesmaids got ready at her grandmother’s home, which was a tradition in the family. Megan and Drew left the church in Megan’s Grandparents classic car.  And Cookies and Milk Boxes were delivered to the tables for dessert… a personal favorite of the grooms!

Congratulations Megan and Drew… Working with you was such a JOY!!

Ashley and Seth’s wedding day was filled with family, friends and Lots of Beautiful and classic decor!! The couple planned their wedding from North Dakota with a few trips back to Minneapolis to finalize plans with vendors. From the minute I met Ashley I knew that I really had a good understanding of the style of wedding she wanted and the classic look and feel she was hoping to achieve!

Ashley may have been an only child.. but it was VERY clear that including her friends, family and cousins in her wedding was really important to her. She had a heart of gold and always put everyone else feelings ahead of her own during the whole planning process and the wedding was perfect with 6 bridesmaids, 4 junior bridesmaids, 2 personal attendants, 4 usherettes and 1 flower girl! We had a lot of girl power and beautiful women involved in the big day!!!

Sadie’s Couture Flowers and Events and Apres out did themselves transforming Aria for close to 400 guests (a feat that we did a few times in 2017!!). Ashley and Seth’s stationery by Paper Rock Scissors was classic gold foil and letterpress and reflected the overall look perfectly!

It was a beautiful day and I am so happy that we have these beautiful images by Jaimee Morse to remember all of the beauty!!
