lasting impressions weddings is an award-winning minnesota wedding planning and design company

I met Greta the same way I have met dozens of my brides… when she was a bridesmaid in a wedding that I was hired to be the wedding coordinator. Its one of my favorite ways to meet my brides because by the time we start to plan their wedding day we already have a connection! A few years after that fate meeting, I got a call that Greta and Greg were engaged!

When we first started planning the wedding Greta knew she wanted to include some element of her home into her wedding. We traveled over to Wisconsin to survey her family cabin property and ultimately ended up deciding that a backyard ceremony in her parents backyard. It was a perfect way to tie in Greta’s dream for her wedding and convenience for the wedding guests. After deciding on the ceremony location, we choose Loring Social for the reception. It’s location was perfect for their guests to be able to enjoy all the city had to offer.

The color pallette that was chosen for Greta and Greg’s wedding was the perfect tone’s for a September wedding. The mixes of blush, Burgandy, and mint green was one of my favorite color combinations I have seen!! And the flowers were stunning. Greta’s parents spent most of their summer getting the backyard all prepared for the celebration and it showed! Sadie’s Floral added cut flowers that complimented the already stunning decor!

When Grace first called me about assisting her with her fall wedding, I was skeptical I would have enough time to be able to fully assist her planning a wedding in a few short months. But the more details that Grace told me about.. the more I realized I needed to be a part of this day.. and after all.. the wedding was at a Horse Farm… She pretty much had me at Horse Farm 🙂

Grace is a competitive rider that recently moved to Minnesota to be with her fiancé Chris. She quickly found a great stable for her hobby and created wonderful friendships with the owner of the farm and the rest is history (and one beautiful fall wedding!!)

My favorite weddings are Tent Weddings!

I am not sure if it is the challenge of creating a venue from the ground up or the idea of having a blank design canvas. But I LOVE the challenge and the uniqueness tents offer! Judging by the number of emails and calls I get inquiring about tent wedding… I don’t think I am alone in my love for these intimate and personal weddings.

However,  most of us do not have properties to accommodate these big gatherings. Brenna and Justin did not have that problem!! The first time I drove out to Brenna’s parents home in Orono my heart did a happy dance when I saw the large amounts of FLAT grassy land I knew that it was made for a wedding!

The moment I met with Brenna’s lovely mom I knew that I had found a wedding that would inspire me and challenge me at the same time. We dove right into the planning and when Brenna and Justin would come home from New York we would have marathon planning sessions that were always fun and so productive! The first design element we incorporated into the wedding was a sketch of Brenna’s childhood home where the wedding was taking place. This became an intricate part of our wedding design placing it on the save the dates, menu cards and other day of stationery. In addition, the colors of the wedding were inspired by the house as well. We wanted everything to look like it flowed together effortlessly.

The week of the wedding the forecast was terrible. At one point it showed 90% chance of rain the day of the wedding and naturally we started to implement the backup plans we had planned. However, as the Minnesota weather likes to do… The forecast drastically shifted over the next 24 hours. Not only did it not rain a drop, but the temperatures rose to over 90 degrees. Thankfully we had an amazing group of vendors that worked through the sweat and the sun to make this day flawless!

Brenna and Justin. Thank you for allowing me to be apart of your big day and for inviting me into your home to share such special memories!!

Cheers!
